About Desiree
Professional Background:
I have been recruiting since 1998, with 10 of those years in travel healthcare recruitment. I have received numerous awards, like Recruiter of the Year, Century Club, Loyalty Dedication, and Commitment, to name a few. Most importantly, I have received positive reviews from travelers now on Great Recruiters, and travelers used to mail or email them to me…lol! It is the most rewarding industry supporting people who help others in their time of need.
What Do You Love—or Get Most Excited About—In Recruitment?
I truly enjoy meeting new people, listening to their life experiences, and sharing what I have learned from my own journey and helping others in theirs. I love helping others achieve their goals, like gaining experience, traveling to a place they have always wanted to visit, or making more money for a new car, a home, or something that matters.
Do You Have Any Personal Connections to Nursing or Allied Health?
I started in this industry because I worked for a company that placed recruiters at various agencies. My mom is a nurse and is an amazing woman. I decided to switch from corporate recruiting and focus on healthcare, which was one of the best decisions I have made. Since that time, I have helped so many people begin a career in healthcare and travel, which has been a true joy for all.
What Does the Nursing/Allied Industry Mean to You?
I started my career in Traveling Nursing, which was amazing, and when I came back to the industry, I moved to Allied Healthcare. I took time away from the industry when our son was born and began to miss important milestones. He was later diagnosed with autism during that time we worked with so many allied healthcare professionals who changed the direction of his life. I am eternally grateful for their work.
Nurse Appreciation Stories and Special Shout-Outs:
I need to express a huge Thank You to our son’s Allied Healthcare Professionals Team: Brenen G, our son’s toddler SLP, who helped our nonverbal son communicate. Sandy S, our son’s toddler OT, helped us reduce our son’s extreme sensory overload, taking him from melting down to a calmer place and redirecting him. Presently, his school SLP, Samanta R, has helped him so much with expressing himself emotionally and communicating clearly, to the point where he gave a speech about Autism awareness, something my husband and I would never have imagined. It has been a long road and a beautiful journey all at the same time, and I feel truly blessed to have the support of Allied Healthcare practitioners.
Personal Background:
I was born and raised in San Diego, CA, and have lived all over the city. I’ve been married for 11 incredible years, mom to our wonderful 10-year-old son & sweet 6-year-old rescue dog. I love getting outdoors, traveling, trying new restaurants, reading, listening to music, and a good social media scroll. I hope to learn about you and share our new and exciting experiences.
