Open enrollment is passive this year. This means if you don’t have any changes you want to make to your policy, you are almost set for 2023! The only piece you will still need to re-enroll for each year is your Health Savings Account.
While open enrollment is passive, we strongly encourage you to read through the benefits guide anyway. There have been changes in medical plan prices, and you’ll want to pick the option that works best for you. There’s also a new benefit, which we’ll talk more about below!
First, let’s talk about what isn’t changing. You’ll still have the ability to choose between either a High Deductible Health Plan, a Health Savings Account, a PPO Base, or a PPO Buy-Up for your health insurance, along with things like dental and vision insurance. Other benefits which we know are important – like Life & AD&D Insurance, Short- and Long-Term Disability, Accident Insurance, Critical Illness Insurance, Pet Plans, and Legal Shield – are also not going anywhere.
We heard from travelers about the concerns regarding insurance costs and took action. When negotiating with Cigna, we fought for all employees to see only minimal adjustments made in the prices of medical premiums, along with retaining the structure and coverage of the plans. This was done to ensure we continue to provide top-tier benefits for all employees. We were capable of negotiating rate increases well below the national average.
One benefit we are happy to add this year is Hospital/Indemnity, which:
– Automatically integrates with disability claims
– Pays a cash benefit based upon admission and confinement in the hospital
– Is not limited by a pre-existing condition
– Is a 100% Guarantee Issue (no evidence of insurability even for those that previously waived the benefit)
