20 Years of TNAA: A Look Back at Nursing
TNAA turns 20 this year! Grab your Dr. Martens®, push play on your Space Jam soundtrack, and let’s take a trip down memory lane. We’re sitting down with our team to see just how much has changed in the past 20 years.
Let’s Talk About Nursing
We sat down with a few of our nurses and asked them to take a look back at their careers. Overwhelmingly it’s the challenges they love. After all, these are the people who choose to walk into new environments and fill hospital needs. Mostly, it was the endless opportunities to help serve people that drew them to nursing.
How has Nursing Changed In The Last 20 Years?
A lot has changed in the nursing field, mainly due to technology. Tina, one of our travel nurses who has been in the industry for 30 years has seen a lot of positive changes when it comes to protecting patients, “We now have very strict guidelines for HIPPA which is good, everything is one-time use, which is awesome for not transferring infection.” But like every industry, nursing has seen it’s share of challenges over the years. Both women mentioned insurance reimbursement and hospital politics, which prompts a lot of nurses to start their travel nursing careers. Tamara, who started nursing in 1991, has seen a considerable change in the need for travel nurses over the years as a way to combat some .
That’s So 90’s
We’ve seen a lot of 90’s technology come and go — who remembers Hit Clips? Tina said she’d bring back her Discman player, Tamara, however, misses her paper charting. Although she loves her EMAR, there’s just something nostalgic about putting pen to paper.
