Travel Nurse Stories: Our Country is Breathtaking!
Meet Stacy Fine, RN
I am Stacy Fine; and I am from Baltimore, Maryland. I graduated from the University of Maryland with a bachelor’s degree in exercise physiology and then worked as a personal trainer and exercise lab tech for about a year. I was, shall we say, “less than fulfilled”; so out of the blue I decided to give nursing a try. I went to the University of Maryland School of Nursing and got my bachelor’s in nursing. It was the best decision I ever made! I love operating room nursing! I started at Shock Trauma, the number one trauma center in the country. As much as I loved my job there, I knew I wanted to see the country while I was still young and single…that’s why I joined the profession of travel nursing! How many other jobs allow you to see the country, go where you want, when you want, pick your shifts, and get paid some awesome money to do it?!?
Travel Nurse Across America has made it so easy for me. All I have to do is tell my fabulous recruiter, Meaghan, where I want to go and she does her best to find me what I am looking for…then all I have to do is show up and move in! The agency is so organized and helpful which is just what I need because I frequently have trouble making up my mind…thank goodness everyone is so patient! I have learned a tremendous amount about nursing since I began traveling last year. But honestly, I have learned even more about myself…things I wouldn’t have learned without traveling! I have also made lifelong friends that I would have never met otherwise. It has been an all-around great experience for me!
I started my traveling adventure in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida. I then moved on to Savannah, Georgia, Albuquerque, New Mexico then Phoenix, Arizona. I am currently on my way to Tucson, Arizona then who knows? Travel nursing allows me to continue my hobbies in different cities, and even pick up new ones. I love working out, biking, hiking, wakeboarding (I just learned in Phoenix…who knew Arizona had lakes?), and just hanging out with my friends. I knew I lived in a beautiful country, but to actually be experiencing it as I work as a travel nurse is something else…our country is breathtaking! I am grateful to have the chance to visit places I never would have gotten to see without being a travel nurse. I know that I will continue traveling for another few years…who knows what the future holds!
