In general, the hospitals we work with require travel nurses to have a minimum of 1-2 years of recent acute care experience in the specialty in which they wish to work. You’ll also need to provide references and documentation of licenses and certifications.
We make it easy! Just fill out an application online or call us to speak with a recruiting specialist who can help you. Once we receive your completed application, we’ll contact you to confirm your information and discuss with you your goals, desires, and path in your travel career. The sooner we understand your story the sooner we can begin searching for travel nursing jobs that fit your needs and experience.
After applying for a travel assignment, a member of our recruiting staff will contact you to confirm your information. Once we’ve talked with you and learned more about what you’re looking for, we’ll begin looking for travel nursing jobs that best fit your specific needs. Then we’ll get your completed application and profile to hospitals you’re interested in that are looking for travel nurses with your skills and experience.
If the hospital wants to go ahead with an interview, they will contact you directly. If at any time a hospital or travel assignment doesn’t feel like a good fit, no problem. We’ll keep looking until we find the perfect one. In the meantime, we can sign you up for Job Watch, which will automatically notify you via text and/or email when jobs you may be interested in become available.

We provide your hourly compensation, housing, insurance, travel money, and other benefits. You may elect to receive subsidies for housing instead of having us pay that expense directly.

The goal of the interview is to make sure the assignment is a good fit for both you and the hospital. Phone interviews may last from 5 to 35 minutes. We encourage nurses to make a list of questions to ask prior to getting on the phone. Your recruiter can provide you with a template as a guide.
Licensing requirements vary from state to state. Some states are members of the Nurse Licensure Compact, so your current license may be a sufficient credential. Other states offer a temporary license that is valid for up to one year. The process of getting a temporary license varies with each state, also. Some states are “walk through” states and only require 7-12 days to process your request, while others may take up to 3 months. We will not only assist you in obtaining your temporary license, but we will also pay your license fee and associated costs.
We want you to feel comfortable and safe when you travel with us. We offer housing solutions with high-quality, furnished, private housing and covered utilities. Or, you can opt for a housing subsidy and use our Easy Stay program. With Easy Stay, you receive the full benefit of your housing subsidy while providing an array of housing solutions.
Of course! Many people travel with family and pets. It’s a great opportunity to explore the country together. If you are traveling with pets, you may incur additional housing fees, such as pet and cleaning deposits. We’ll work with you to make sure we secure housing that accommodates any traveling companion.
Most of our travelers drive while a few choose to fly. Travel Nurse Across America will reimburse you for your travel expenses getting to your assignment, up to $1,000.
Your first day or few days will consist of orientation. You will then begin working the shift that you and the hospital agreed upon during your phone interview.
If sick, you have options. You can make up the day, utilize sick pay hours, or see if adding days on to the end of your contract is an option. Of course your options may vary, but your recruiter can help you figure out the best solution.
The facility will communicate with your recruiter, who will let you know as soon as information has been provided for you. Since all facilities have different policies, some will offer full orientation pay.
Yes! If you plan ahead and are fairly flexible, we can keep you working as much or as little as you’d like.
We suggest looking for your next assignment once you’re halfway through with your current assignment. You can work with your recruiter on when you want to be contacted with available assignments and preferred locations.
